What Is The Iacon Seal Standard?
The Iacon Seal Standard is a set of strict guidelines created to protect the integrity and authenticity of the creation and distribution of motion pictures. Its core purpose is to ensure filmmakers remain faithful to the sacred art of motion picture capture, development, presentation, and preservation.
The standard also verifies that, throughout the production process, Artificial Intelligence (also commonly known as A.I.) does not have a controlling influence in critical areas of motion picture creation. The standard was created to ensure motion pictures remain curated by human hands, both now and into the future.

Statement From The Founder And CEO Of The Iacon Group
We live in a world where too many creative spaces are being infiltrated and, in many cases, replaced by artificial algorithms and data points based on targeted interests and trends. We have seen and experiencedmany of these processes infiltrate a space that we, as a culture and a country, hold very dear to our hearts, the motion picture.
The Iacon Group was founded with the core belief that art, in all of its shapes, forms, sizes, and origins, comes directly from the human condition, the human soul. There is no quantum equation that we know of that can replicate what is so incredibly unique to each and every
one of us. We must hold ourselves accountable and protect our art from outside interests and forces that strive to exploit and replicate it through artificial means.

Panavision Millennium XL2 Cinema Camera
This symbol represents the Panavision Millennium XL2 cinema Camera, designed by Panavision Inc. In 1992, Panavision embarked on a complete redesign of its 35mm camera systems, culminating in the release of the original Millennium camera in 1997. Led by designer Al Mayer Jr., the Millennium XL reduced the camera’s weight and footprint. It became the first product in Panavision’s history to win both an Academy Award and an Emmy within its first year.
The Millennium on the Iacon Seal represents the Golden Age of Filmmaking, during which some of the world’s greatest films, created by many of the world’s greatest writers and directors, were shot using the Panavision Millennium platform.

The Freedom Tower (One World Trade Center)
The Freedom Tower (One WTC) symbol is at the core of the Iacon Seal. It represents our founding in New York City. It represents freedom and perseverance through the toughest of times. The spire
of the Freedom Tower is the tallest point on the Iacon Seal, representing the tallest skyscraper in all of the United States of America. We all live under the spire of the Freedom Tower. Built in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, attacks and completed in
2014, it is a symbol of strength, honor, and faith in the dream that is America. Iacon was forged in New York City. This is our home. We
shall never forget.

35MM Film Reel
Celluloid film is how motion pictures were born. The very first images ever captured in human history used a combination of unique materials and chemical reactions to capture light photons from the world and redisplay them to audiences far and wide. Celluloid film is what movies are made of and has become coveted by some of the world’s greatest minds in motion picture development and distribution.
It is important that we not only honor film, but also that, at every opportunity, we use this medium as a catalyst to continue telling stories on screens throughout the world while preserving the knowledge and craft of its use on film sets far and wide.

Lady Columbia Atop The Soldiers' and Sailors' Arch in NYC
The Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Arch is a triumphal arch located at Grand
Army Plaza in Brooklyn, New York. Designed by John Hemenway
Duncan and built between 1889 and 1892, the arch commemorates
the veterans of the American Civil War who fought for the Union.
Featured on the Iacon Seal is Lady Columbia from the arch. Lady
Columbia is a historic female personification of the United States of
America, originating in the 1600s as a symbol of liberty, freedom,
and American ideals. She serves as a reminder that we must always
fight to bring out the very best in every person with whom we work
while creating motion pictures and remaining loyal to our fellow
compatriots.

The Laurel Leaf Emblem
The laurel leaf emblem originated in ancient Greek mythology and
was adopted by the Romans as the ultimate symbol of victory,
triumph, and high achievement. Over the centuries, it evolved from
an exclusive crown of honor for military commanders and Olympic
champions into a global emblem used in modern academia, heraldry,
and luxury branding.
The laurel leaves on the Iacon Seal represent the highest standards
applied to the development, production, and distribution of motion
pictures and digital media content.

Semper Fidelis
Semper Fidelis is a Latin phrase meaning “always faithful.” Placed
on the outer ring of the Iacon Seal, it serves as a visual reminder that we must always remain faithful to the true art of the development, production, and distribution of motion pictures.

The Iacon Seal Standard Rules
2.1
The Iacon Code of Conduct
Under The Iacon Seal Standard, the production and/or post-production
houses responsible for the pre-production, principal photography, and
post-production delivery stages of the motion picture must adhere to and
abide by the Iacon Group Code of Conduct. This ensures all personnel
involved with the production of a motion picture are protected, treated with
dignity, and are active participants in ensuring a professional working
environment.
2.2
The Usage of Artificial Intelligence (A.I)
The use of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) is highly regulated under The Iacon
Seal Standard. During the pre-production phase of any motion picture, the use of Artificial Intelligence must not exceed 5% of the total preproduction workload. Permitted uses of Artificial Intelligence during this phase are limited primarily to the analysis and processing of quotations,
payroll, and local, state, and federal tax-related documentation associated
with the production.
The use of Artificial Intelligence is strictly prohibited in any stage of
screenplay writing or editing, storyboarding, production design, costume
design, casting, or rigging. During the pre-visualization phase, the use of
Artificial Intelligence must not exceed 10% of the total work performed.
During post-production, the use of Artificial Intelligence must not exceed
5% of the total post-production workload. These standards are intended to
preserve the integrity of human creativity, craftsmanship, and artistic
expression throughout the motion picture production process.
2.3
Verification & Compliance
The Iacon Group recognizes that enforcing specific Artificial Intelligence
usage limits through independent verification alone may be difficult.
Accordingly, to obtain Iacon Seal Certification, a motion picture must be
produced in association with The Iacon Group and participate in the
certification review process established by The Iacon Group. Direct
involvement in the production process allows The Iacon Group to observe
production activities and evaluate whether the standards, requirements, and
principles of the Iacon Seal are being implemented and adhered to in good
faith.
As part of the certification process, an authorized Iacon representative will
conduct a certification questionnaire and review with the principal creators
and production representatives involved in the motion picture. The results
of this review will be maintained as part of the certification records.
If The Iacon Group reasonably determines that a production has materially
violated any Iacon Seal Standard, misrepresented information during the
certification process, or otherwise failed to comply with the requirements
for certification, The Iacon Group reserves the right to deny, suspend, or
revoke Iacon Seal Certification. In such circumstances, The Iacon Group
and its affiliates may also discontinue their participation in the production,
subject to the terms of any applicable agreements.
